    • Certificate of Excellence in Promoting Undergraduate Research, Old Dominion University in 2016 & 2017.

     

    • Awarded the prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER award for five years (2013-2018) to support his research on algae to biofuels.

     

    • 2014 Old Dominion University Faculty Special Recognitions and Honors.

     

    • Selected as Distinguished Alumni of BIT Sindri (India’s undergraduate institute) in North America on July 20, 2014.

     

    • 2014 Honarable Mention at The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) competition under National Sustainable Design Expo 2014 in Washington, D.C. Prepared my student Ms. Hannah Drake to win second prize in one minute "elevator pitch"- video category in the competition.

     

    • A certificate of Appreciation (2013) from ACS Publications for valuable contribution and dedicated service associated with peer reviewing of manuscripts submitted to ACS.

     

    • Outstanding International Graduate Student, 2009 in Department of Chemical Engineering, Auburn University, USA.

     

    • Developed first-ever proprietary pyro-metallurgical process for the production of a strategic powder based nuclear fuel which successfully eliminated the import of such materials in BARC, India.

     

    • At Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Dr. Kumar was selected twice for the fast track promotion from the rank of Scientific Officer -C to Scientific Office-D, in 1999 and from the rank of Scientific Officer D to Scientific Office-E, in 2003.
